In Germany, prescription-only medicines are sold through pharmacies, with advice on effects and side effects playing a special role here. In addition to the prescription drugs, all drugs that require advice before use may only be sold in pharmacies (compulsory pharmacy). The pharmacies in their previous form form an elementary part of our health system, particularly because of the advice that is provided here, but so-called mail-order pharmacies have become increasingly established in recent years. Adapted principles of counseling apply to them and experts therefore fear that the quality of counseling will deteriorate. (fp)
